So Old Man Logan finally hit the stands after making fans wait for months. Marvel typically doesn’t have the same kinds of issues with delivery that smaller publishers have so it’s a bit surprising for this to happen, and to a marquee character to boot. So what is a fan such as myself to do?

The first thing I’m going to do is read the issue, which I haven’t yet. Then I’m going to feel however the book makes me feel. After that I will move onto something else. You see, as a comic reader I have made a deal with comic book makers. That as long as they keep telling stories, I’ll do my best to read them. If they take a while then I’II wait because frankly I need the story just as bad as Marvel needs to sell it.

I just wish there was something that Marvel could do to make up for the fact that I had to wait so long for the conclusion to the story. What happens if the book isn’t worth the wait? Did I just get robbed? Damn.

I think that Marvel should give us a three month guarantee. A promise to make sure no book is ever more than 3 months late. If the book is over three months late then it’s free. Not only will people dig getting a free comic every once and a while, but they’ll complain less about waiting. They’ll be more accepting of the book and maybe not so harsh a critic. You never know Marvel comics and I’m looking at you too DC.

Imagine how cool it would be if Marvel was even more reliable with their publications. Kick-Ass would have almost double the issues, or most of those great comics would have been free.

Now I understand that things happen and books have to come out late. But I’m also a paying customer that can’t buy books if extenuating circumstances have depleted my funds. If you demand payment, then why can’t I demand timely delivery of the product? To make a customer wait months for a product and then charge them full price is just not smart business.

It goes to show you how hooked we are on the product. It tells us that we’ll let Marvel and DC treat us any old kind of way and we’ll come crawling back begging for more. After all, who are we going to complain to? Congress? Dear Mr. or Mrs. Or Ms. Congressman could you take time out of your busy schedule to make sure my issue of Spider-Man comes on time? Hello? Hello?

This is an appeal to Marvel directly to cut us some slack on late books out of the kindness of their hearts, since we are powerless against their spooky fictional magic.
