Olivia Wilde made the cut on House last year, winning a slot as one of the new doctors on his medical detective team. It's been revealed her character, still dubbed Thirteen by her internship number, has Huntington's disease and before the last hiatus, she started hooking up with Foreman (Omar Epps) during a drug trial. Oh, and she's going to be in Tron 2, so that's happening.
Crave Online: You're about to be in Tron 2. How cool is that?

Olivia Wilde: It's pretty cool. Cool would be the word. We might need a new definition, a bigger word than cool but it's pretty awesome.

Crave Online: Do you have a cool lightsuit to wear?

Olivia Wilde: I can't tell you anything about what I wear, what I do. But it's going to be just as revolutionary and exciting as the first one was in 1982. It's technology that I have never conceived of for filmmaking. I am so blown away by what they're creating. I think people are going to be very happy, particularly fans of the original. The fact that Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner are returning I think is really exciting.

Crave Online: Do you get to work with them?

Olivia Wilde: I do. I do. It's going to be a moviegoing experience unlike anything people have seen before.

Crave Online: When do you go to work and finish, and when do you actually get to see anything?

Olivia Wilde: 2011 is when it will come out. I'll be so old by then.

Crave Online: Who is your character?

Olivia Wilde: Sadly, that's really the end of what I can tell you. I can't tell you anything about the character and I can't think of anything else I can tell you.

Crave Online: Were you a Tron fan growing up?

Olivia Wilde: No, I discovered Tron late in life and now when I watch it, I really get a kick out of how retro is looks now. At the time it was, as you know, quite revolutionary and new, sort of the Matrix of its time. I really respect everyone involved in the original because it was such a huge effort to make it happen. They really went through hell to make that movie and I have a lot of respect for them and I'm excited that I get to meet all the original creators and cast.

Crave Online: So you're going to find a cure for Huntington's disease on House, right?

Olivia Wilde: Oh, I wish. It wouldn't be very responsible of us to find a cure for a disease there is no cure for, but I wish we could.

Crave Online: Does it kind of give you an out clause, if you need to leave, then it just starts getting worse?

Olivia Wilde: Exactly, just kill me. I think the thing with 13 is she's so unpredictable and has that tendency for self-destruction, that anything can happen to her at any time, Huntington's or not. So I better behave myself.

Crave Online: What can we expect from this relationship with Foreman?

Olivia Wilde: Well, it has unintended consequences, I'll tell you that. It's of course complicated because it's a workplace romance which never works out for anyone but they try and it's interesting because they are similar in certain ways. They're both very independent and very stubborn. But I think bringing them together was kind of an unpredictable twist because she's a project. He's a very together, very professional doctor, very low drama and here is this woman who's come into his life, come in as this new doctor and hired by House, has been falling apart before his eyes, has almost died twice, has been fired I think three times. Here she is and he's reaching out to help her. The question is whether or not she will take that help. I think it's pretty interesting. It's a whole new side of his character. I've been a fan of the show for many years, so for me to see the new side of his character is really kind of fun. And of course a new side of 13 which is fun for me as well.

Crave Online: I think House is the funniest show on television.

Olivia Wilde: Oh great. I really think that it's fun to do. People always say, "Oh, do you like being on drama as opposed to a comedy?" And I don’t feel that way at all. I feel like it's a combination and like you say, can be very hilarious and because of Hugh Laurie's own kind of dark, dry wit, he's able to sell that comedy without overdoing it and without knocking you over the head with it. I think the reason the show's successful is because it doesn't underestimate the intelligence of its viewers. That goes for its comedy as well.

Crave Online: People complain about House's behavior, but why do people need a doctor to be nice anyway?

Olivia Wilde: No, you want a doctor to be honest. I think people are comforted by nice bedside manner of doctors. Actually, there's a statistic that people will not sue doctors who have been overly nice to them during the diagnostic process. It's actually in the Malcolm Gladwell book. He talks about how people are very hesitant to sue doctors for malpractice, even if they've been really terribly, painfully wronged by them, if the doctor's had very good bedside manner. On the opposite side of that, people are very quick to sue doctors who've been kind of rough with them even if they haven't actually done anything wrong. So House would be the first to get sued but he is honest and I think people appreciate his character because he says everything we all want to say. He's not inhibited and I think we all strive to be less inhibited.

Crave Online: You've been on a lot of different shows. Have you noticed any similarities or differences between The O.C., The Black Donnellys and House?

Olivia Wilde: No, I don't think I could've picked three less similar shows. It actually feels like a very natural progression to go from The O.C. to Donnellys to House. It sort of feels like I've grown up along with my characters. In The O.C. my character was in high school and I was basically just out of high school at that point. It was towards the beginning of my career. Then Black Donnellys, my character was a little older and I was a little older and she was dealing with more complicated things and so was I. Here I am playing someone who's a professional and settled into her career and confident, and I feel that's where I am in my life so there is a parallel between myself and all these characters.
