Forgetting Sarah Marshall lunatics Jason Segel and Nick Stoller have teamed up with Disney to bring The Muppets back to the big screen! Word on the street is that they're going for a surprisingly traditional take on the franchise, bringing back Paul Williams, composer of many of the old Muppets songs.
Writer-director Cameron Crowe is making a new romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller. Plot details are under lock and key, but we'll take a shot in the dark and guess that it's about a kinda goofy, average-joe-type guy who falls for a well-to-do girl, and hilarity ensues when he tries to become a part of her world. The film begins shooting very early next year.
Paramount Pictures has picked up a script called ATARI, a biopic focusing on Atari creators Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way productions will produce the film, and DiCaprio is set to star.
Political humorist and author Bill Maher has teamed up with "Curb Your Enthusiasm"'s Larry Charles to make Religulous, a documentary that follows Maher as he travels around the globe interviewing people about God and religion. Maher brings his ruthless, honest humor to the big screen on this unusual spiritual journey, and it looks hysterical. "Join me in the final battle between intelligence and stupidity that will decide the future of humanity," Maher urges his fans. "Coming soon to a house of false idols near you." The movie hits theaters Oct. 3rd, and we can't wait.
News team assemble! The momentum for a sequel to the legendary Anchorman film is growing rapidly these days. Both Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have been discussing it for some time, and Steve Carrell aka weatherman Brick "I love lamp" Tamland has expressed enthusiasm for the idea, as well. When asked by MTV is he'd be down for another go-round in the land of the whale's vagina, Carrell said "Oh absolutely, yeah in a second. That was one of the most fun things I ever did.” Maybe this time the human torch won't be denied a bank loan.
Bomb alert: the first teaser for The Pink Panther 2 is up online. If you saw the first movie, you're probably screaming "WHY!?" at your computer screen by now. Understandable, as the original was ungodly. Steve Martin's genius could be better used in so many areas.
Despite ongoing legal issues, T.I. has signed a three-movie deal to kick start his silver-screen career. "I want to do romantic comedies, action movies, dramas - tons of different things," The rapper told MTV News. Yeah, can't wait.
