One staple of many action films is the assassin. An assassin is a cold and calculated killer who works by themselves for money or as part of an organization. They are intelligent, cunning, resourceful and ruthless. While most films usually feature some guy in a suit with a suitcase full of guns, other films have taken a different route and featured women in roles as killers for hire.  We decided to take a look at some of our favorite lady assassins in recent films.

Fox in Wanted

In the new film Wanted, Angelina Jolie plays Fox, a deadly assassin and member of The Fraternity a secret group of assassins. Fox is an expert marksman who is one of the most hardcore members of The Fraternity. Fox’s stunning looks distract from her deadly demeanor, and we don’t mind being distracted by Angelina for any reason.

Georgia Sykes in Smoking Aces

In her feature film debut, the beautiful Alicia Keys plays the Atlanta based assassin, Georgia Sykes in Smoking Aces. A true femme fatale, Sykes uses her sex appeal while pretending to be a hooker in order to kill an informant with a million dollar bounty on his head. If we had a bounty on our heads we would want to have our ticked punched by Alicia.

T-X in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

In Terminator 3 Skynet decided to try something completely different, in this case it was a hot android assassin. The Terminator model was officially called the T-X, while others used the fairly appropriate Terminatrix. Former model, Kristanna Loken used mechanical appendages, weapons and Krav Maga to chase down John Conner and we can’t understand why he tried so hard to get away.

Elektra in Daredevil and Elektra



Played by Jennifer Garner, the Marvel Comics character Elektra is a different kind of assassin, instead of firearms she uses swords, a bow, a red corset and her expert martial arts skills to kill her targets. Elektra’s skills were so impressive that even after being killed in the film Daredevil she managed to make her return in the spin off film Elektra.

Vernita Green (aka Copperhead) in Kill Bill 1 & 2
 

Vivica A. Fox plays Vernita Green, suburban housewife and former assassin in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films. Copperhead is a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DVAS) and in addition to being sexy as hell she is also a skilled hand to hand combatant. After seeing Vivica in the knock down drag out brawl in Kill Bill 1, we opted to admire her from afar.

Nikita in La Femme Nikita

French actress Anne Parillaud started the role of Nikita that spawned two remakes (Point of No Return and Black Cat) in two countries and a successful series on cable. The scrappy former heroin addict Nikita, works for French Intelligence, who give her a very extreme makeover; a sexy new dress, high heels and a shiny new .44 Magnum Desert Eagle.

O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill 1 & 2

The adorable actress Lucy Liu plays the assassin turned Yakuza head who was also a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad from Kill Bill. Don’t take Liu’s small stature lightly or you might find yourself headless, as this assassin is also a master at sword fighting and even finds time to run her own gang of sword wielding killers, The Crazy 88.

Charlie Baltimore in The Long Kiss Goodnight

In The Long Kiss Goodnight, actress, near Olympian and Mensa member, Geena Davis stars as suburban schoolteacher, Samantha Caine. We soon learn that the attractive soccer mom is actually a very hot assassin named Charlie Baltimore. We also learn that she likes to drink Vodka, drive fast and pack more heat than the Secret Service. Now that is our kind of lady.

The Bride (aka Beatrix Kiddo) in Kill Bill 1 & 2

Our third and final entry from the Kill Bill films is Uma Thurman in the role she co-created, The Bride. In the film she plays an assassin traveling the globe hunting down her former comrades who viciously attacked her during her wedding. In the two films Uma engages in some of the most physical fights on screen while using swords, knives and good old bare knuckles. Did we mention that she sports a yellow bodysuit similar to the one won by Bruce Lee in Game of Death? Now that's hot.

Jane Smith in Mr. & Mrs. Smith



So our list ends exactly where it started, with the lovely Angelina Jolie. In Mr, & Mrs. Smith Jolie plays Jane Smith, who is an accomplished (and hot) assassin. After Jane Smith is assigned to kill her husband all hell breaks loose as the couple destroy everything in their path while trying to kill each other. Keep an eye out for a sexy dress and an unusual get away by Jolie.
