The original title I'd like to have gone with for this piece was Famewhoring Old Rockers In Makeup Air Out Their Dirty Laundry In Desperate Bid To Remain Relevant - but that was a bit too long. Regardless, the message is the same. Aerosmith, the ultimate sellout band on the planet that doesn't employ Gene Simmons, is currently imploding across the internugs in what appears to be a spat between their two leading wrinkled peacocks, frontman Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry.

When you're in a megastar band, literacy is apparently optional.
Sunday night, Perry announced (in very broken English) on his Twitter page that he and his bandmates are "positively looking for a new singer to work with." This comes after the news that Tyler had hired his own manager, and Wednesday's publication of an interview with Britain's Classic Rock magazine, in which Tyler announced that he would focus on his own projects, calling it "Brand Tyler".
"Steven quit as far as I can tell," he told the Las Vegas Sun, adding that the singer "has had no contact with me or the other band members."
The catty news comes on the tail end of a year plagued with problems for Aerosmith. In August, Tyler was airlifted to hospital after falling offstage at a gig in Dakota. As a result, the band were forced to cancel a U.S. tour. Perry told Reuters last month that Tyler has refused to write a song with him for a decade. More recently and just as importantly, Perry said that the last time he phoned Tyler, the singer hung up on him.
"Right now I'm adjusting to how we're going to go on," Perry explained. "Aerosmith is such a powerful band, I mean it's like a steam locomotive. You just can't disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do. As far as replacing Steve, it's not just about that, it's also four guys that play extremely well together, and I'm not going to see that go to waste. I really don't know what path it's going to take at this point, but we'll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer."
Tyler has been playing his cards close to the chest, but it's worth noting that he completed a stint in rehab last year. His daughter Mia (the fat one), however, took to Twitter on Monday to defend him and make a dig at Perry.
"They are in their 60s now," she wrote. "Let them do what they wanna do! & can someone please tell (Joe Perry) that gossiping on Twitter is uncalled for!"
