The Beat 100.3 in Philly radio DJ Charlamagne Tha God has always been an outspoken character. For months nobody seemed to want to point out that Cassie can't sing, and it was Char who made waves when he called her out as a tone-deaf fake role model on his radio show. He didn't suffer too hard for that one (partially because he was right on the mark), but Charlamagne was suspiciously and unceremoniously fired from The Beat after his recent interview with Beanie Sigel, during which Beanie took some solid cracks at Jay-Z.
Here's part 1 of the interview with Charlamagne and Beanie Sigel.
Let's rewind for the backstory a bit. Earlier last week, DJ Kay Slay premiered a new track by Beans called “I Ain’t Ya Average,” where he goes all-in on his former homie Jay-Z. What's the motive? Word has it that Hov wouldn’t release Beans from his Def Jam contract, against his own wishes.
Charlamagne, whose show on The Beat has made quite an impact and sat solid among the top 5 in the 18-34 demo, called Beanie up to discuss the track and his feelings about Hov. After the interview, despite never having had any warnings, suspensions or disciplinary actions taken against him, was terminated. "A model employee," as he put it.
Our friends over at VladTV brought Charlamagne The God into the studio to give his version of the story (see below).
Charlamagne personally announced the firing on his Twitter account: cthagod

Speculation has been rampant among the drama desperates since the firing, with many claiming that Jay-Z had a personal part in the termination. The good people over at Media Outrage reached a Beat 100.3 station employee who confirmed the cause:
MO: Was Charlamagne fired because of his interview with Beanie Sigel?
Source: Yes, I am %100 sure that he was let go because of his interview with Beanie Sigel.
MO: So you’re not speculating like the rest of us right now?
Source: No.
MO: Why would they do that though, knowing that that interview brought high ratings?
Source: You have to understand as I’m very sure that he already does, the station has to maintain an amicable relationship with Jay-Z and his camp because this man is the biggest rapper in the game right now. Infact, he’s not really even a rapper anymore. He’s a business. So you can’t risk ruining a relationship like that just to draw ratings. A radio personality can always be replaced and with the proper set-up, put in a position to succeed. It’s better for the station to replace that person than ruin a relationship with someone who has been on top of the game for years now.
MO: So you are saying that you are really %100 sure that Charlamagne was fired because of his interview with Beanie Sigel?
Source: Yes. I can’t really go into the particulars but that’s what I was told. Is it foul? Yes. This is the business that we are in though.
