Jackson smashes the charts, new Spinnerette & Death Cab videos and more

As predicted, Michael Jackson is once again the King of the Pop charts.  Jackson himself has a record eight albums out of the top 10 for the week, while a Jackson 5 compilation also makes its way upward. Number Ones will fittingly lead the pack at #1 with 108,000 (a staggering sales increase of 2,340%) while The Essential Michael Jackson and Thriller are in the #2 and #3 spots with 102,000 and 101,000, respectively.

The classic 1979 album Off the Wall re-enters at #4 with 33,000 while at #5, the Jackson 5's The Ultimate Collection debuts with 18,000. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it'll never happen again.

Bob Dylan is set to appear on The Beastie Boys' upcoming Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 (due after Pt. 1, of course), but while he won't be rapping, his contribution is anything but conventional.

"We sampled his ass," Beastie Boy MCA tells Drowned In Sound. The Boys previously borrowed a bit of Dylan's Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues for Check Your Head's "Finger Lickin' Good," and this collaboration is no different.

The Brooklyn trio says that Bob Dylan's sample is a "spoken word" piece lifted from the iconic singer's Theme Time Radio Hour show. Whatever works, just get the album out already!

Death Cab for Cutie have unveiled their new video for the song "Little Bribes," which is featured on their recent EP, The Open Door. Directed by DCFC fan Ross Ching, who's fascination with time-lapse photography was spurred by the "Brothers On A Hotel Bed" video from the band's Directions DVD.

Ching posted the clip on his own website under the heading, "Looking For A Job," and when members of Death Cab saw Ching's work, they chose to release "Little Bribes" as the track's official video. Ching has since been hired by Atlantic Records to helm a future video project for the label. Sounds like a happy ending to me.

The Foo Fighters have announced that they'll play a special Fourth of July show this Saturday at the White House. The band will perform a short set as part of the traditional Independence Day festivities on the South Lawn.

Earlier this week, President Obama invited staffers and their immediate families to the official First Family celebration.

While the Foos are currently on hiatus, bassist Nate Mendel has reunited with his old band Sunny Day Real Estate, while Grohl is working on a project with Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme.
