There's no point keeping it secret. My biggest fetish is for muscular women. Not like steroid monster bodybuilders, but really firm, toned fitness babes. If American Gladiators weren't already a childhood icon revamped for modern television, it's also a whole new slate of buff babes now that I'm old enough to appreciate them. They teamed up in groups of three for interviews, but with Stealth and Siren there, Militia hardly got any attention.
CraveOnline: What goes into choosing your gladiator names?
Siren: A lot of different things. We all try to come up with our own names, but I think by the end of training camp, I think we all have our own personalities and that's why we were chosen as gladiators, so we could fit into lots of different names. For me, Siren fit, but I could probably be five other things, but it's all representing a sexy character who's confident and powerful and strong, and that's going to come through.
Militia: The producers, like depending on your character, they kind of give you a name. That's what the producers say.
CraveOnline: What was training camp like?
American Gladiator: Militia
Stealth: That's all confidential. No, I'm just kidding. Training camp, for me especially, was kind of like basic training. We got up early. Our days ended long and we basically went to a stunt coordinator's house where they had a lot of the simulated events set up. We trained on each of the events. We worked with each other and worked against stuntmen, but we basically learned technique and how to use the equipment. After that, it was bringing all of our athleticism to the table. So it was great. I had a good time.
Militia: It was training, trying to get strength on each one of the events we have on the show, so that's mostly what the training was. They were trying to find the skill, what you were better in so every one can fit in one of the events.
Siren: I think honestly it was grueling because we were doing things that our bodies were not really used to doing, taking a lot of impact and blows and trying to do things like the rings and the wall and going over and over and over again. So we, in a sense, are true gladiators based on making it through training.
Militia: Exactly.
CraveOnline: Is there any acting involved?
Militia: Sometimes you have to save the acting to keep up with all the things you have to do. Whatever it is you're doing, the wall, sometimes you just have to concentrate and try to get to them. It's like no characters. The producers sometimes can tell you, "Come on, keep up your characters." If you're on the wall, you don't care. I'm trying to get to the person on this wall. We want to be the best. That's why we've been chosen.
Stealth: Our characters are extensions of who we already are, so when we say that we're not acting, we're just bringing out ourselves but bigger and better. So especially because we're all athletes, our game face comes on. So everyone thinks oh, this is a reality show and they're talking a lot of smack but when the whistle blows, the sport begins. That's what's real.
Siren: Yeah, I wanted to add the same thing. Just basically, our characters are just an extension of us but to the 10th degree. We have to really amplify ourselves. I think we actually tried to act in the beginning. When they said, "Okay, let's practice your character. We're going to put you on film and see what you can do." It was just horrible. We would just laugh at ourselves because we were trying too hard to be something when we were already ourselves and we just needed to be ourselves at a higher state, more amplified.
CraveOnline: Were you fans of the original show?
Siren: Oh, absolutely.
Militia: Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course, we all are. Especially now. I was not watching the old Gladiators but now I'm going on YouTube and watching to get used to it, to get comfortable. I love it. I think it was a great show.
CraveOnline: Which event were you not looking forward to?
Siren: You know what's funny? I was not looking forward to doing Powerball which is where you tackle the people and they try to get the ball in the basket. I just thought it looked like you could be injured really easily.
Militia: It's the one that most people have been injured on.
Siren: I love it. It's my favorite event and I tackled every person and I was so full of adrenaline. At the end, I'm like oh, that's it? I was ready to go again. So it was really strange how that was opposite of what I saw.
CraveOnline: For the buff women, how will the show affect people's views of bodybuilders?
American Gladiator: Siren
Siren: Well, we're not bodybuilders but I would say we're body shapers. We sculpt our bodies and we take care of our bodies with nutrition. We don't supplement with ridiculous things to make our bodies more than what they could be. I think we're a representation of what a female could be at the highest standard of health and fitness. When you work out hard in the gym and you eat the proper nutrition and fuel your body, you really can look like this. You could be a superhero.
Stealth: I think it's going to be very positive. We're going to be in a situation where we're going to be able to emulate our athletic talent, our leadership, our character and our personalities. These are all good things to expose to America and now finally, they get to see some of these qualities that they see in movie stars and athletes, but they get to see it in us, in our physiques. So I think that right now, our typical physiques are not exposed enough. Now they're going to get exposed in a major way so everything that's good in us that comes with us is going to be associated with our physiques. So I think it's going to be very positive for that bodybuilding fitness figure type to be. I bet you more women will want to look like this, because when you're looking at role models and people you want to be like, you see what they represent and if you like that, they become mentors to you. You want to be more like them. I think people are going to appreciate our confidence, our competitiveness, our athletic ability, our sportsmanship and they see the package that we bring to the table and they're going to want to be like that. We're going to gain a lot more respect. That's what I expect to see happen.
CraveOnline: Stealth, how did you injure your leg and Siren, how did you get your awesome bruises?
Siren: I have quite a big bruise here. I don't know if you can see it. This is from the rings. It's covered up a little bit. It's huge. Scrapes, bruises, pulls, tears, we are really truly gladiators. This is real life combat. There's no joking around. When the whistle blows, those contenders are going after $100,000. They are just not messing around. There's no, "Oh, let's go at them 80%, make it a good show." They're coming at you full force and if you go 80% you're going to get taken down and you're going to get hurt, so we don't even think about the injuries until after the fact. Now we're kind of like oh, whatever. We'll have plenty of time to recover but that's what gladiators are. You have to take the battle wounds. To me it's like badges. It's like having a medal of honor in battle. It's not a big deal.
Stealth: As far as how I hurt my leg, you guys are going to have to watch the show, but I will guarantee you it was a really good show. It was very exciting. I'm proud of it. I wear it proudly and it's just part of the process of being a competitor and athlete. We're not afraid of it. They're going to know that we are relentless in pursuit and we have no fear. So getting injured, that's just part of the process but we come back. A stealth bomber, my name is Stealth and like the stealth bomber, an aircraft can be maintained back to operation and that's exactly what's going to happen with Stealth right here.
American Gladiator: Stealth
Militia: I think that somewhere along the lines, everyone, I got injured too. My legs and in my arms, somewhere along the line, everybody got injured. This is like, everybody's giving everything they've got in the competition and you're going to get injured. That's what make us different from everybody else. We are gladiators so we are injured and we are still competing. We're still up there giving the best that we've got and I think people are just going to look at how she got injured and then she stands up and her feet keep going. The same with her, everybody.
Stealth: Like the Terminator, the Bionic Woman. Can't be stopped.
Siren: And when we need to, we step in for each other. If you're having a rough day with injuries or if you just got kind of knocked out on an event and you need a break, you need somebody to step up, we have such a great team. The Gladiator team is like a family and we really help each other out. So I think that we were lucky to have that, those type of people to step up for you.
