At a film screening to promote "Frankie & Alice" for the 42nd NAACP Image Awards, actress Halle Berry confirmed her involvement with The Wachowskis siblings' upcoming adaptation of "Cloud Atlas."

ComingSoon.net reports that Berry was extremely forthright about her new project, during a Q&A session following the screening.

"I'm going to do a movie probably in the summer with the Wachowskis," explained Berry. "It's not brothers anymore, but the Wachowskis. A really interesting movie. Sort of like what they did with 'The Matrix,' they have another really amazing idea that's sort of gonna stretch our brains even further. And so I'm really excited about that and that's probably gonna be in the summer. And that’s with Tom Hanks and Natalie Portman."

While Hanks appears to be locked in, NataliePortman.com states that her appearance in the film isn't "a done deal yet. Looking more and more likely though." James McAvoy and Ian McKellen have also been previously rumored or linked to appear in the film.

"Cloud Atlas" is based on the novel of the same name by David Mitchell; in which six individuals at different points in history, all of whom (except one) may be reincarnations of the same soul whose only common trait is an identical birthmark. Among the individuals are a nineteenth century clerk stuck at sea, a journalist in the '70s investigating a nuclear power plant, an artificially created human used for slave labor and a tribal old man living in a post-apocalyptic world who relates the stories of the other individuals and has his own role to play.

Although The Wachowskis are best known for "The Matrix" trilogy, they have not directed a film since "Speed Racer." Writer/director Tom Tykwer is adapting "Cloud Atlas," and may possibly helm the film as well.
