Patton and Renner Do the `Impossible`

Their mission, should they choose to accept it, is to star in `Mission: Impossible IV`

The upcoming film Mission Impossible: IV has done the impossible and announced the two leads who will be going toe-to-toe with franchise star Tom Cruise.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Jeremy Renner, whose babyface recently carried The Hurt Locker to Oscar-gold, will star opposite Cruise in the new Mission Impossible. While there's no word on what the role entails, there's a chance it could be the young-up-and-comer part that Paramount was rumored to have had shoehorned in. As for the femme fatales of Mission Impossible: IV, Paula Patton has just been cast as the female lead. Patton was last seen on the big screen as Ms. Rain in Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Saphire.

Set for a late 2011 release, Mission Impossible: IV boasts Brad Bird, director Pixar's The Incredibles and Ratatouille, at the helm. In addition to Cruise, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg will also be making their return.
