So. Many. Rumors. Ugh.
With only four major roles to cast -- not counting villains, of course -- you'd think that production news would be pretty straightforward for the upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four. Not so, at least not when filming's so far off and the only confirmed details are that Akiva Goldsman will producer and Michael Green will pen the screenplay.
So what does the rumor mill say? Well, according to Comic Book Movie, Fox (where the Fantastic Four movie is based out off) is in the final stages of selecting a director, with the choices narrowed down to Joe Carnaha (The A-Team), James McTeigue (Ninja Assassin), and David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). With Fox reportedly looking for a darker interpretation of the comic material, I'd be willing to see what Yates can go do after managing to darken (and tighten) up the last few Harry Potter films.
As for casting, big name after big name is flying around, depending on who you read and listen to. The most interesting rumor, also brought to light by Comic Book Movie, is that the completely CGI incarnation of The Thing will be brought to life thanks to Bruce Willis' voice -- at least if Fox has their way.
Meanwhile, Screenrant reports that Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Adrien Brody, who has recently taken a turn for the buff and actiony with his new muscles and role in this summer's Predators, are under consideration for the role of Mr. Fantastic. As for that character's wife, the Invisible Woman, word is that Amber Heard (Zombieland) is being looked at while Kevin Pennington is under consideration to play her brother, the Human Torch. (Chris Evans, who originated the part, is understandably a little busy with his new Captain America role.)
Since Fox is not looking to begin production on Fantastic Four until after they're done with X-Men: First Class, all this and more could change multiple times over -- which would be more than welcome if you ask me. Not only does Meyers not really seem the Mr. Fantastic-sort, but Heard seems rather young to play the romantic interest of either Meyers or Brody.
