Black Swan, the upcoming film from Darren Aronofsky, has announced a limited release date of December 1, 2010, though it will premiere in September as the opening film of the 67th Venice Film Festival.
A New York based psychological thriller, Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a ballet dancer who becomes jealous of a new rival member of her troupe in the form of Lily (Mila Kunis). The relationship between the two women mirrors their roles in a performance of Swan Lake, leading to Nina exploring facets of her personality that she never knew existed.
Aronofsky's first film since leading Mickey Rourke to a Best Actor Golden Globe in 2008's The Wrestler, Black Swan drew a lot of attention last year when an online script review at ScriptShadow (now removed) described a intense "ecstasy-induced hungry aggressive angry sex" scene between Portman and Kunis.
"[I]t's a battle and the ying and yang," Kunis told ComingSoon.net late last year, "Ultimately, it's the story of Natalie's character going through a downward spiral mentally through Swan Lake... Her character is in a world that is just falling apart all around her. Because everything is falling apart around her, crazy things start happening."
