TIFF reveals star-studded lineup

A lot of Tinseltown’s A-listers will be promoting their flicks at the 35th annual Toronto International Film Festival, and this past Tuesday, organizers announced the official line-up for TIFF, who will show a total of 51 films as well as 25 world premieres and host 15 galas. There’s even talk about a possible 3D screening.

Celebs making their way to TO include the likes of Robert Redford (and his latest project “The Conspirator,” which looks at the repercussions following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln), David Schwimmer (who directed “Trust”), Philip Seymour Hoffman (with his directorial debut “Jack Goes Boating”), Woody Allen (“You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” profiling the dynamics of a British couple), Ben Affleck (who directed “The Town”), and Emilio Estevez (who directed “The Way”). Hollywood stars Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kevin Spacey, Hilary Swank, Sam Worthington, Clive Owen and Robert De Niro will also be in attendance.

“On the occasion of our 35th anniversary, we are thrilled to announce this selection of important and notable films,” says Piers Handling, Director and CEO of TIFF, in a recent press release. “The richness and diversity of this year’s Galas and Special Presentations programmes reflect the abundance of exciting works from established and emerging filmmakers in the world of cinema.”

Some of the films on TIFF’s schedule have already been viewed this year at Cannes, like Allen’s project, while many will be enjoying their debut screening at the event. Movies from a number of countries will be represented, such as Denmark, France, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Spain, and Sweden. Also making an appearance – teen heartthrob Zac Efron.

The Toronto International Film Festival will take place from September 9-19.
