Director Stephen Norrington (Blade, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) is pushing forward with his reboot of The Crow and an offer has already been made to a "major actor."

Fans of the original Crow film from 1994 have long been keeping an eye on Norrington's plan to bring the character immortalized onscreen by Brandon Lee back to theaters. But as it turns out, Norrington isn't interested in remaking the cult classic, but adapting the original Crow graphic novels in a new way. In a recent interview with MTV Movies Blog, producer Edward Pressman divulged that everything from the setting to the look of the film would be different from the first Crow. He added, "I think it's a very different conception [than the original film]. After the first Crow, there were so many other films that were inspired by it, by its look. Steve is an artist himself, and he's created a very different visual idea."

This statement may even lend further credence to a story from last year, in which an unnamed source close to the production told Mania.com that Norrington's Crow would be "[a] whole new story about a whole new character."

In fact, it looks like one of the new characters will be none other than the Crow. Explained Pressman, "The Crow itself is a creature in this movie — it's not just a bird. It's got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it's very different [and has] a more active role in the story."

Now that Norrington's script is reportedly complete, all we can do is speculate on who might have been approached to star. Though with filming set to start hopefully this year, we might be hearing some names soon enough.
