December Movie Guide

Sending 2009 out with a bang, Hollywood style.

It's been one hell of an adventurous year for Hollywood, but some might argue that the best was saved for last. December is packed with movies we've been looking forward to for a very long time, and a few surprises to round out the year in fashion. Is James Cameron's Avatar the game-changing spectacle of awesome it's been hyped as? Does Robert Downey Jr. make Sherlock Holmes his own? Only one way to find out!

Brothers

Release Date: December 4

Director: Jim Sheridan

Rating: R

Two siblings, thirty-something Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) and younger brother Tommy Cahill (Jake Gyllenhaal), couldn't be more different. When Sam'sBlack Hawk helicopter is shot down in the mountains he's presumed dead and the Cahill family suddenly faces a fatherless household, and Tommy tries to fill in for his brother by taking the responsibility for himself, including caring for Sam's wife Grace and the children. In the grief and strangeness of their new lives, Grace and Tommy are naturally drawn together. The shame and fear of their mutual attraction complicates their lives even further, and we should go ahead and assume that Sam returns at some point.

CraveOnline's Call: There's something very Legends Of The Fall about this, but that movie kind of kicked ass. Can't go wrong with Natalie Portman, either, so why not give it a go on date night?

CraveOnline's Call: It's been a while since we've seen a good heist film. Will this one hold up? We'll have to see.
