With horror fans losing their minds in anticipation of Halloween II making its theatrical debut on Aug. 28, we decided to take a look back at all the previous Halloween films - the good, the bad and the very, very ugly. It's just a few weeks until Michael Myers returns home to sleepy Haddonfield, Illinois to take care of some unfinished family business, so now's the time to read up on your Halloween history!

HALLOWEEN

John Carpenter's low-budget original classic unleashed the first true masked-man-slasher on the moviegoing world. Suspense replaced the standard gore fare as sanitarium patient Michael Myers escapes and hacks his way through Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) friends in Haddonfield, Illinois.

HALLOWEEN II

Picking up from the very second the first movie ended, Halloween 2 ties things up nicely, though not as gripping as the first. We learn that Laurie is actually Michael Myers' sister, and that despite six gunshots to the heart, Michael's still very much alive. An explosion engulfing both Dr. Loomis and Michael at the end suggests that the two die this way, but of course we know better than that...

HALLOWEEN III: Season of the Witch

The bastard child of the franchise, this unnecessary third movie in the franchise focused on  "The Halloween Three" a set of three masks that kill the wearer and cause all sorts of assorted mayhem. Celtic mythology and other legacy distractions run rampant in this forgettable sidestep.
