This time it will be Rose McGowan (Grindhouse) filling the shoes of Red Sonja the She-Devil. If you’ve never read the comic of the same name then you’re missing out, with Robert Rodriguez involved this film is sure to stay true to the level of violence that the book conveys.
Rose McGowan seems a wee bit small for the part of Sonja but I’m sure they’ll have her ready to go when the time comes. What also helps is that this film will revisit Sonja’s origins, which should work out well for McGown who will look much younger in the role than Nielsen did in 1985.
And what about Arnold’s character
Does this mean we’ll see a Conan movie soon to follow Red Sonja? It seems a bit too early to tell, but Nu Image/Millennium films seems just happy to have Robert Rodriguez involved in the project, reuniting he and Rose McGowan, “Working with the talented Robert Rodriguez, having Rose McGowan as Red Sonja and Douglas Aarniokoski directing is a fantastic combination. We could not be happier.” That’s according to Avi Lerner for Nu Image/ Millennium.
Production is set to begin in October of this year, there will be locations in Michigan and throughout the United States.
