Keanu Reeves gave a performance that begged one simple question: How the hell does that guy find work? I think we all remember that famous line, “I…AM…A… FB…I…Agent…”. It’s obvious that the devil and Mr. Reeves have something going on; it’s only fair to assume that The Matrix trilogy was a part of the package deal.
There’s no word on whether or not the original cast will make a comeback for this movie. Patrick Swayze may or may not be dying (it depends on which supermarket tabloid you cater to) and Gary Busey is well, Gary Busey. That just leaves Keanu himself to come back and player Johnny Utah or whatever his stupid name was.
Considering that Keanu is basically the same character in just about every movie (remember when he was Shakespeare Neo?), we just saw Johnny Utah in a movie called Street Kings. It seems as though filmmakers feel comfortable with Keanu when they pair him with better actors, like Lawrence Fishburne or Forrest Whittaker. A new Point Break film is destined to fail unless Sam Jackson or Morgan Freeman is casted based on Reeves’ track record.
All kidding aside, did we really need this movie? Are films like Street Kings so good that the world has demanded more Keanu Reeves? Are you serious? Really? Do I have to spend another 400 words or so explaining how bad Point Break was? This was a cop movie about a bunch of bank robbing surfers. Now that I think about it, how the hell did the first film get green lighted? This news is just further proof that the real force behind Hollywood is a team of monkeys in a room full of typewriters.
The film will be shot on location in Singapore and Southeast Asia, so at least we won’t have to worry about actually seeing this mess as it’s assembled. Unless of course you live in Singapore, for that I’m truly sorry, and I apologize for Keanu Reeves in advance.
