Patriots begins production in New Orleans

Forrest Whitaker stars, Tim Story directs
On April 21 2008 the cast for ‘Patriots’ was announced. The cast list is a mix and match of names from across the Hollywood and Hip Hop spectrum. Joining Forest Whitaker will be Taraji P. Henson (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Talk to Me”), Isaiah Washington (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Bionic Woman”), Robbie Jones (“One Tree Hill”), Jackie Long (“Soul Men,” “The Comebacks,” “Idlewild”), Eric Hill (“Law and Order”), Bow Wow (“Like Mike,” “Johnson Family Vacation,” “Roll Bounce”), Lil’ Wayne (“The Boondocks,” “The Roaches”), Irma Hall (“The Ladykillers,” “Collateral,” “Soul Food”), Jared Einsohn (“Law and Order”), J.B. Smoove (“Everyone Hates Chris,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Chyna McClain (“Daddy’s Little Girls”).

The film is directed by Tim Story (“Fantastic Four”) from a script by Robert Eisele (“The Great Debaters”) and Greg Howard (“Remember the Titans”). Producers are Raymond Brothers and Scott Glassgold of IAM Entertainment and Stephanie Allain (“Hustle & Flow,” “Black Snake Moan”) and Michael Beugg (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “Thank You For Smoking”).

The film is based on a true story about a basketball team that consists of players from five different schools but still finds a way to make it all the way to the state championships. Production of the true story started last week on location in New Orleans. Forest Whitaker, who will likely play Coach Al Collins is reunited with ‘The Great Debaters’ scribe Robert Eisele for this project.

‘Patriots’ is a part of Dimension Films 2008 release line up.
