So our good friends over at SuperheroHype always have the best and most up to date news on all things Comic Book movies. One particularly interesting news item is the live action Dragonball Z movie. What the hell people!

What Hollywood jack ass decided that they were so desperate for ideas that they decided to start making anime into live action flicks? As if every terrible video game movie isn’t bad enough, now we need to start appealing to the anime crowd. Now there is nothing wrong with the anime crowd, but if I had a guess I would say they are into anime because it is ANIME (notice the animation part in the word?)! They enjoy the cartoon aspect of it! Now the whole reason they even decided to do most of this in cartoon form is because it would be a pain in the ass to shoot all this crap in a live action format.

Dragonball is a great example of this. I used to be a huge Dragonball Z fan when I was in Jr. High and I remember that they always liked to throw their characters through mountains in big battles, and the fact was it didn’t have to be believable because it was a friggin’ cartoon. But now you try to make it all live action and suddenly you have to make this crap real. It has to be believable. Speaking of believable I would also fire my casting director that as soon as I said “Let’s make a live action martial arts JAPANESE anime movie. Go Cast it.” And they came back with James Marsden and Justin Chatwin. IT’S JAPANESE! Nothing against Justin Chatwin it’s just I guess I missed the crazy ass Judo scene in the Invisible, or the fact that he karate chopped the aliens in War of the Worlds.

Now I know a lot of people may read this and say “but it’s only one movie dude, if it sucks they will just disappear and you will never see another again.” Yet I have seen enough movies in my life to know how this works. You make one, and it rakes in just enough money to line their pockets so suddenly every jackass wants to make a live action Anime movie. Comic book movies and video game movies are all living proof that trends get set even after failure. I guess my final thoughts are this: Dragonball is a terrible idea, as is making Avatar: the Last Air Bender (looking at you M. Night.), and Naruto. So please Hollywood, when Dragonball fails, as you know it will don’t make another one. Oh and if it doesn’t fail bad enough for you please, allow Uwe Boll to direct the next one and you will then maybe decide to quit after that crap fest. Maybe he could get Burt Reynolds to be in it…..
