Three weeks ago we heard a strange story that Patty Jenkins, the director of the low-budget indie drama Monster (which won Charlize Theron an Academy Award) was in talks to direct Thor 2. We believed it, but despite a boost in visibility after directing the pilot for AMC's The Killing, she didn't seem to fit the mold. Low cost dramas about murder? The connection to Frost Giants seemed tenuous at best.
But now it's official: Patty Jenkins is directing Thor 2 with an expected release date of November 15th, 2013. The sequel to the hit summer blockbuster is still an unknown quantity, but the rumor mill is already working overtime. Thor is expected to travel to other planets, and also tangle with The Enchantress and The Executioner. All of which we're basically fine with.
Not much else to report beyond the confirmation, so instead we leave you with a little treat from the bygone era of the Thor animated series.
