If you're anything like us, you had completely forgotten about Brett Ratner's upcoming adaptation of Hercules: The Thracian Wars, hadn't you? Well, it's still coming. Ten months after Ratner attached himself to the project, a script has been adapted by Ryan Condal (whose Paradise Lost recently fell apart at Legendary over budget concerns) and they're looking at stars. Naturally, since the film's about a big muscle-y guy, they're looking at Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock.
Variety reports that Dwayne Johnson is now in talks to star in Brett Ratner's sword and sandal epic, based on the comic book mini-series by Steve Moore and Admira Wijaya. The series, which we haven't read, apparently tells the story of Herc training an army to be ruthless bastards. If produced, it would be the first major Hollywood production of Hercules since Disney' went from zero to hero in 1997.
Of course, with the film coming courtesy of Brett Ratner, we've learned not to get our hopes up, but wouldn't a good, big budget Hercules movie be nice? With Wrath of the Titans on the horizon, these kinds of flicks could be on an upswing.
CraveOnline will be back with more Hercules news after we clean out these stables.
