We're lifelong Thor fans here at CraveOnline, so we were just pleased as punch that longtime fan favorite characters The Warriors Three were such an important part of Kenneth Branagh's excellent feature film adaptation back in 2011. Hogun, Fandral and Volstagg, played by Tadanobu Asano, Josh Dallas and Ray Stevenson, were reliable comic relief but also key to getting Thor back to Asgard and reclaiming his rightful throne. So we're a little sad that not all of them are coming back for Thor 2, to be directed by "Game of Thrones" helmer Alan Taylor. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Fandral will no longer be played by Josh Dallas, leaving room for another dashing young actor to take his place.
Entertainment Weekly reported over the weekend that Dallas will be too busy filming the second season of the ABC drama "Once Upon a Time" to return for Thor 2. He plays "Prince Charming" on the revisionist fairy tale series, a role befitting the most dashing member of The Warriors Three. There's no word yet on who Marvel is considering to replace Josh Dallas on their upcoming sequel, but he'll need to have fabulous cheekbones. We'd suggest "True Blood's" Alexander Skarsgard, but it might be too small a role for a star so obviously on the rise.
CraveOnline will be back with more Thor 2 news after we behold in breathless wonder.
