Adam Sandler Will Produce ‘Bad Toys II’

Happy Madison Productions acquires the rights to a short film about the action-packed fantasy world of childhood playthings.

Adam Sandler is about to go where only Toys, Small Soldiers, The Indian in the Cupboard, Toy Story 1-3, Ted, and Jim Henson's The Christmas Toy have gone before, by making a movie about the power of children's playthings. Sandler's Happy Madison Productions has just acquired the rights to the French short film Bad Toys II, which combines live-action sequences of a playroom with animation to illustrate the Michael Bay-infused world that toys inhabit thanks to the imaginations of their owners.

The short (which you can watch above), comes courtesy of French filmmakers Daniel Brunet and Nicolas Douste, and will be adapted into a story about, as Hollywood Reporter puts it, "a father who, through his son's toys, recaptures the excitement of his childhood."

Wow, an Adam Sandler movie about a grown man acting like a child? Whatever will they think of next?

Bad Toys II joins Candyland as the latest property picked up by Happy Madison with an eye towards casting Sandler in a film about childhood fantasy. The production company is also working on a film about Tonka trucks, for some reason.
