Has the Plot for the Justice League Movie Been Revealed?

Sources say that the Warner Bros. film will be based on Justice League of America #183-185.

With Warner Bros.' Justice League movie on the horizon, scheduled for release just two years from now, it's only natural that we should start hearing some new. Come to think of it, it's only natural that we start hearing some REAL news. We still don't even know who's going to be directing this thing, despite rumors surrounding Ben Affleck and Wachowski Starship. All we know for sure is that Gangster Squad writer Will Beale has contributed the screenplay, and we don't even know what that's about either. Or do we…?

Sources now say that Justice League of America (Vol. 1) #183-185 is being adapted for the Justice League movie's screenplay, according to the oft-correct website Latino Review's sources. The story, originally written by Gerry Conway (famous for killing off Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Man comic books and for co-creating The Punisher), finds the DC superheroes teaming up with Jack Kirby's New Gods to defeat the Darkseid, an intergalactic conqueror. The series also teamed up the then-contemporary superheroes with their Golden Age counterparts from "Earth 2," and included the earthbound DC supervillains The Injustice Gang.

We've heard rumblings before that Darkseid (pronounced "Darkside") would be the villain in Warner Bros.' Justice League movie, and we suppose this particular storyline is as good as any on which to base a film. However, assuming this is true (and it will be for a while, at least until someone from the Warner Bros. camp makes a statement to the contrary), we can't help but wonder if Marvel Studios is going to be pretty miffed about it. Thanos is often considered the Marvel Universe counterpart to Darkseid – they even look somewhat similar (check out those chins) – but although Thanos was actually created three years after Darkseid, Marvel was the company who first publicly declared their intentions to use an intergalactic conqueror in their own 2015 superhero team-up movie with the closing credits Easter Egg on their 2012 summer blockbuster The Avengers. Warner Bros. it would seem, would be inviting direct comparisons between Justice League and The Avengers 2 upon their release, which will almost inevitably result in one of them paling in comparison.

Wer'e still waiting to see if anyone confirms or denies this rumor, but until then, you may want to break out those long boxes, find your old Justice League of Americas, and see if you really want this storyline to be the source of your Justice League movie or not.
