Guillermo Del Toro Will Make a DC Superhero Team Movie After All

2 1/2 months after debunking the rumor, the director of Pacific Rim admits it was true all along.

A couple of months after Guillermo Del Toro was rumored to be directing a DC superhero team movie – focusing on supernatural characters like The Spectre, Swamp Thing and Zatanna – and his subsequent denial of that project's existence (later redacted, but the project's existence never officially confirmed either), the director of Pacific Rim is stating in no uncertain terms that it's being developed as we speek.

The film, which was supposedly titled Heaven Sent but, according to Del Toro, is actually called Dark Universe (at least for now), has a writer, but although the director thinks he's "the perfect guy," he doesn't seem comfortable revealing their name yet: "Yeah, I'm doing it. I'm working on it. I'm writing the outline and we already are in talks with a writer, a very, very good writer – I think people are going to be happy with who we have chosen – and he accepted. I've been courting this writer, because I think he is the perfect guy. We're doing it. Hopefully it will happen. We don't know until the green light the movie.

The confirmation comes from IGN, who were interviewing Del Toro for his upcoming producorial effort, Mama. Head on over to their site for Del Toro's thoughts on the cast, including why he thinks Swamp Thing is a "rock star." He also confirms that Etrigan the Demon, Zatanna, Zatara, Deadman and The Spectre will be part of the main cast, and that revealing anyone else who will appear in the film could spoil the storyline.
