Warner Bros. Greenlights The ‘Entourage’ Movie

Vincent Chase and his friends from the HBO TV series will reunite on the big screen.

For years, “Entourage” creator Doug Ellin has dropped hints about a movie that would follow up on the characters from his HBO TV series. And now the greenlight has finally been given.

According to Deadline, the Entourage movie is moving forward with Ellin attached to direct and write it. None of the cast have deals in place, but negotiations are reportedly underway with Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon and Jeremy Piven. Rex Lee, Perry Reeves and Emmanuelle Chriqui also seem like safe bets to make a return appearance.

“Entourage” ran for eight seasons on HBO before concluding in 2011. On the surface, “Entourage” followed Grenier’s Vincent Chase, an actor on the cusp of superstardom as he pursued his dreams. But in reality, the show was really about Vince’s friends, Eric “E” Murphy (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Vince’s half-brother, Johnny Drama (Dillon) as they tried to get their own taste of success in Hollywood.

However, the breakout character was Piven’s Ari Gold, a superstar (and foul mouthed) agent who represented several elite Hollywood stars, including Vince. Piven won three Supporting Actor Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Gold during the course of the series.

The final episode of “Entourage” even set up the movie storyline by leaving Ari in a cliffhanger. During that episode, Ari walked away from his agency to save his marriage and his family. But in the middle of his vacation, Ari was offered his dream job to run Warner Bros.; which could potentially end his marriage if he says yes.

Ari’s choice was held back for the movie, but it seems likely that he took the job. The idea of Ari running Warner Bros. is too good to pass up. However, we’ll probably find out soon after Warner Bros. gets the Entourage film into production.
