The folks over at io9 have rounded up a bunch of new images from the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek re-launch that will be turning up in Entertainment Weekly later in the week. they also talked to Abrams who had some tough words about the franchise; “I don’t think people even understand what Star Trek means anymore,” said Abrams. That being said, the director does seem to understand world view of the series and stated that, “It was important to me that optimism be cool again.”. Take a look at Sylar, I mean Spock choking some guy out. Speaking of Spock, the production designers have done a great job with his look.



The images look good so far. The costumes look like early versions of the original series outfits. Not sure why Kirk is in black while everyone else is in their original colors, maybe it is a rank thing, or maybe he is a space emo dude.

One of the pics has a view of what appears to be the bridge of the Enterprise.



The bridge looks similar to, but more glossy than, the bridge from Enterprise.



Looking back you can't beat the familiar industrial deco look of the original Enterprise bridge though.
