Top Ten Canadian Films Goes To Polley, Cronenberg, And Dolan

The 12th annual Canada's Top Ten list was unveiled Tuesday evening.

Canada's Top Ten films were unveiled at a gala event last night, and among those recognized include Sarah Polley's "Stories We Tell," David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," and Xavier Dolan's "Laurence Anyways."

Other top movies included:

- "The End of Time" by Peter Mettler

- The hockey flick "Goon" from Michael Dowse

- "Midnight's Children" from Deepa Mehta

- "My Awkward Sexual Adventure" from Sean Garrity

- "Rebelle" by Kim Nguyen

- Michael McGowan's "Still"

"From a hilarious sex quest to an apocalyptic satire, this year's diverse list of documentaries, comedies, dramas and epics serve the country's savvy moviegoers the eclectic cocktail of films they have grown to count on from Canada's Top Ten," TIFF senior programmer Steve Gravestock said in a statement (as reported by CBC News).

In order to be recognized, each title had to have premiered at a major film festival or obtained a commercial theatrical release in Canada in 2012. All of the top films as well as the shorts that were named last night will screen in Toronto from Jan. 4th to 13th at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, with a number of them touring to cities like Vancouver, Edmonton, and Montreal.
