Star Wars Rebellion #15

Luke is wrapped up in Vector!

Vector part seven is upon us as Luke and the Rebellion run smack dab into Celeste Morne and her army of rakghouls. Rebellion is the story of well, the rebellion against the Empire as seen in the first Star Wars film from 1977. The story spans a five year period that starts directly after the battle of Yavin. This marks the turning point in the epic and the decline of the Empire.

Anticipating new readers this story starts off with a short flashback to a conversation between Obi-Wan and Luke. It’s important to remember that this is a difficult time for Luke; his master is dead long before he could teach him the finer points of the force and it will still be a year or so before he meets Yoda. Luke is troubled with the burden of being the only Jedi in the galaxy, at least to his knowledge.

It has been years since Celeste Morne sent Darth Vader packing with a group of rakghouls nipping at his heels, and the Dark Lord began to wonder if she still survived on the moon he confined her to. Celeste has been stuck there with an old Sith Lord’s spirit most likely driving her completely insane. Vader engineers for Luke to show up on the moon to investigate what he thinks is a Sith weapon.

The only thing that bugs me about this issue is that Luke never actually meets Morne in this issue. This issue actually comes across as so much filler in the series. For the first time since the beginning I get the feeling that they had to draw the story out a bit. Nevertheless this was a minor complaint because it’s really cool to see Luke and the gang get in on the action.

Vector is leading to something big, what that is I don’t know but so far its been everything I could have hoped for in a Star Wars crossover with extra points being awarded for the sheer difficulty of pulling something like this off. While other companies are doing it bigger, no one is doing it better right now than Dark Horse.
