Walk Hard DVD Review

A Whole Lot of Cox.

On Tuesday, the world was blessed with a DVD release so outrageously funny that every single person needs to not only see it for themselves but buy the DVD so that they can view it over and over again. The 2-Disc Unrated Edition of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story came out and basically proved why anything Judd Apatow touches turns to pure gold, including Cox.

Why the movie makes mockery of every single music bio-pic ever made, I would say it's true genius can be found amongst the amazing special features. Much in the respect of the ever classic “This is Spinal Tap”, the Walk Hard special features pull no punches making you believe that Dewey Cox was a real musician that had a great effect on the music world, with “The Real Dewey Cox” Feature, which shows interviews with musicians like; Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett, Jewel and more who all admit to have a deep admiration and love of Cox. Of course after this you can check out an additional 8 full song performances by Dewey, a Christmas song from Dewey Cox, The making of Walk Hard, and more.

Check out these clips from the DVD courtesy of our friends at ReelTalkTV.

Amongst these features the two that really stand out are the Last Word with John Hodgman, where musicians come to give their final interview before they die, of course the feature interview here is with Mr. Dewey Cox himself, where he gives you the rundown on his “real” life, including some incredibly funny moments between his two wives. Of course the other special feature that will want to be watched over and over again is the Dewey Cox sausage commercials, with outtakes. All the outtakes are with Dewey Cox, and not John C. Riley making it even more hysterical as Dewey screams at all the crew members providing extra hours of entertainment.

If you plan on purchasing this movie, make sure you shell out the extra cash for the 2 Disc unrated version. Between the 34 extra minutes of footage, and the ton of special features you won’t get on the single there is no way it wouldn’t be worth it for all the extra Cox…ok seriously that was the last pun.
