Anyone who has played the first Knights of the Old republic game is familiar with the Rakghoul. So far this plague that turns men into beasts has been the center piece of Vector, the story that is destined to effect multiple era’s of the Star Wars universe.

It looks like the Rakghoul is more than just a simple virus, but instead a deadly plague linked to an artifact called the Muur Talisman. How these creatures and the talisman will link to the rest of the Star Wars U is still a mystery, and this issue is dedicated mostly to exploring the different effects of the Talisman off Taris. The Mandalorians who get infected with the disease aren’t quite the same as the Rakghouls found on Taris, their smarter and faster, plus the disease is spreading at an accelerated pace!

Our hero Zayne and his misfit partner Gryph are still following secret Jedi agent Celeste Morne as the plot develops and they discover the powers of the Muur Talisman together. Their interaction is pure Star Wars as the group almost comically stumbles upon one of the worst plagues to face the galaxy.

The Mandalorian army that our hero’s are stuck with is getting ready for a major assault on Alderaan even as the Rakghoul plague spreads amongst their ranks, it will be up to our heroes to figure out how to save the galaxy (naturally).

While this issue doesn’t do much to expand the larger story yet, I have a feeling that if you pass it up now you’ll feel compelled to pick it up later. A lot of people are going to read this issue in a few months and go, “ooooooh, now I get it.” Don’t be that guy, get it now, this series is a Star Wars first, act accordingly.
