The first thing that sprang to mind about fifteen minutes or so into the Transformers movie was that Michael Bay really has a knack for connecting to his audience. It had been a while since I was in a movie with so many of the fans cheering together for even little scenes. Transformers was truly a movie going experience, with all the sights and sounds that you’ve come to expect from Bay and Spielberg.

One of the incredible action sequences

No one will argue that a movie like Transformers is a massive undertaking, and there a ton of fans who have been waiting for years to see this movie. There are so many people who have had years to think about what an actual Transformer would look like if it were real. Micheal Bay and company had to take all of those expectations and make something that would please as many people as possible. Without giving anything away, let’s just say that they did it.

When I first heard about the Transformers project my first concern was that we would get a giant robot movie that was ‘called’ Transformers but really wasn’t. I can confirm that this is not the case as this movie really does a great job of capturing the key elements of the story. The cool catch phrases, sounds and obligatory references to the original show are all here for the long time fans. Bay also crafted a well developed story that should appeal to people who are new to the Transformers franchise.

You're welcome!

The supporting cast and side stories are all pretty well done, with nod to how well the film was edited together. I never got the sensation that the movie was dragging me from one action scene to the next, instead an effort was made to make the story make sense, and I appreciated that. The scale of the movie was properly portrayed throughout the story, giving it an almost disaster flick feel (that made sense considering the whole giant robots from outer space angle). Plus, men everywhere can begin salivating over Megan Fox immediately as she is not only great in the movie, but she looks incredible. All in all, the movie is a lot of fun, not everything works, but those things are minimal. Go see this picture in the theater, where all the sounds and explosions and action can’t be copied on the small screen.
