Steve-O talks to CraveOnline

CraveOnline: It’s been four years since the last Jackass movie, what took so long to for you guys to make the sequel?

Steve O: Honestly, Knoxville had a schedule that’s busy. Being a leading man in Hollywood that commands Million dollars per picture… A few of us made spin off shows and Knoxville [made] guest appearances where he’s trying to die so badly and the director said “don’t kill yourself for cable tv, kill yourself on the silver screen.” A decision was made between Spike Jones, Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine; that if we can write enough ideas to make sure that we have a better movie then the first one, then let’s do it. None of us are doing it for the money, all of us are sick of making money for other people. We made this movie four years later because we knew it was going to be so much better. You know how much better it is? We had forty minutes of deleted scenes all of which would have been welcome in the first movie.

CraveOnline: Since I have not seen the movie yet, I was wondering how much “Man ass” am I going to have to endure in this movie?

I asked this question because I feel that, like many Jackass/Wild Boyz viewers that I may have seen Steve, Chris’s and the crew’s collective asses more than enough times to have them to have them permanently stored in my memory.

SO: Uhh, this one is a lot gayer than the first one. We’re not about being Homosexual; we’re just really focused on trying to rid the world of Homophobia.

CraveOnline: I think it’s working.

SO: Exactly man. So don’t worry about man ass, just worry about not being a f*****g homophobe dude.

CraveOnline: Where did you guys film the movie?

SO: IndiaArkansas, Louisiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, California.

CraveOnline: Did you guys feel that you had to go out of your way to top the last movie or did you just shoot it?

SO: Dude, we went out of our way to not even agree to do the movie until we had enough s**t on paper… Trust me, we are not the gang of guys that are going to waste your movie money on a step backwards.

CraveOnline: I wouldn’t think so.

SO: Dude alcohol and drug addiction [are] progressive illness[es] and so is Jackass. So expect f*****g number two to kick your ass dude.

CraveOnline: Did this movie have more injuries than the last?

SO: I actually sustained the worst injury. I’m not going to go in to it… None of us are religious but there is clearly a higher power of some sort that’s protecting us. None of us have [had] injuries that we could not recover from. Dude, Knoxville went overboard man. I watched everything Knoxville did through the cracks between the fingers in my hands; I was trying to cover my eyes.

CraveOnline: I saw pictures of the rocket thing, that thing looked scary.

SO: Dude, that’s minor. Did you see the trailer? The blindfolded Bull ring?

CraveOnline: Yeah, I did. You think that you guys would stay away from Bulls after what happened on Wild Boyz.

SO: Aw man, no way dude! You’re a real fan or a digital cable subscriber. I would not step foot in to a bull ring in America, not after I saw that kid get killed by that bull in Mexico. They were trying to get me in that bull ring and I [said] you know what I wrote a lot of ideas for this movie and non of them had bulls in them so back off. F*** Bulls, I hate bulls.

Check out this video of the "Wildboyz" Steve-O and Chris Pontius, talking about the making of the movie here. Next check out Johnny Knoxville and J2 director Jeff Tremaine talking about topping the first film here.

Jackass 2 is in theaters September 22. For more info and to play the tattoo Steve-O game check out the Jackass 2 site here.
