We were worried we said goodbye to Starbuck last year, but Katee Sackhoff is signed for the fourth and last year of Battlestar. We'll get one more year of Starbuck kicking ass, however they work that into the plot. And that won't be the last of Sackhoff either, because she's already got another TV show on the books.
CraveOnline: What do you think of Starbuck coming back?
Katee Sackhoff: I don't know. I think they got so much hate mail that they were worried that David and Ron Moore would have death threats.
CraveOnline: Did you have to keep it a secret from everybody?
Katee Sackhoff: I did. Isn't that horrible? I called David about on day two crying, going, "I can't do this. I'm lying to my family and they're all so upset." Everyone thinks that their show is going to get canceled. I was like, "You guys can't do this to me. You're going to have to tell some people." So they told Eddie [James Olmos] and I knew that once they told Eddie, he would tell everybody.
CraveOnline: Did you go through the stages of loss before you got to come back?
Katee Sackhoff: No I didn't because I knew I was coming back. What it was very interesting for though was it allowed me to kind of be a fly on the wall and in a very egotistical way just be able to see how important I was to the show and to know that Starbuck is important. That's nice to know. It's nice to know that people like you.
CraveOnline: Is this really the last season?
Katee Sackhoff: If Eddie said it, I'm going with it. I've heard that. I haven't heard that from the powers that be that pay the checks, but other than that, I don't know.
CraveOnline: Do you know what's going to happen?
Katee Sackhoff: I think they make it up as they go. I think they know what the end's going to be. They have no idea what that filler is yet, and that's the good stuff though so we'll see. It should be pretty interesting considering we're going to go out with a bang I would imagine.
CraveOnline: Is Starbuck a Cylon?
Katee Sackhoff: I don't know. I don't know. I don't even know if I'm alive, if I'm dead. I have no idea. I have no idea.
CraveOnline: What's your role in the two hour episode?
Katee Sackhoff: The flashback episode, I am in the flashback episode a little bit. A little bit. Not a ton but enough to give them a little taste of Starbuck, enough to keep them happy.
CraveOnline: Is it weird to go back and play earlier version while you're in the current place with her?
Katee Sackhoff: Funniest thing, no. It's not. The only worry I have is that they're going to make me cut my hair again, but I guess since Bionic Woman is being picked up, they can't cut my hair.
CraveOnline: Who do you play on Bionic?
Katie Sackhoff: I play Sarah Corbis. She's the original Bionic Woman, the first Bionic Woman. She doesn't let anyone forget it. And she's kind of gone off the reservation. She's a little crazy.
CraveOnline: What are your powers?
Katee Sackhoff: I have both legs, both arms, two eyes, one ear, part of my chest.
CraveOnline: How do you approach another new version of an iconic character?
Katee Sackhoff: My biggest fear was that Sarah Corbis is going to turn out like Starbuck. But she didn't, she turned out a little bit like Number Six. She's the femme fatale. She's dangerous, she's sexy, she knows it and she uses it. She walks with a purpose and Starbuck really doesn't. It's two different sides of the coin but both misunderstood.
CraveOnline: Will you be okay with going from one show right into another?
Katee Sackhoff: Oh please, isn't that every actor's dream? Come on. Constantly be working. I can pay my mortgage for another year. If all things go according to plan with that show, I might have a job when Battlestar's over. I don't know, but as far as that's concerned, that's just icing right now. I'm really focused on Battlestar because I'm a regular on that so we'll figure it out and I'll say goodbye to Starbuck in the only way possible which would be probably hitting a bunch of people and drinking a lot, so it'll be fun.
CraveOnline: Were you a fan of the original Bionic Woman?
Katee Sackhoff: I wasn't born. Like Battlestar Galactica, I'm just going to remake old shows for a living. I keep saying that next is A-Team and I'm going to play Face. Just for shits and giggles.
