Starcraft II Hosting Public Beta.....Soon-ish

Are you one of the millions of people feverishly awaiting the release of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty? Well chances are slim that the game will release this calendar year after a comment by Dustin Browder, lead designer on StarCraft II. Browder said Blizzard plans to host a "four to six month" public beta test for the game which probably has a lot of fans cheering but it means the chance of an actual retail version of the title hitting in 2009 is slim to none since we are already about half way through the year and the beta test would take up roughly the remaining half.
But Browder and the rest of Blizzard make a good point. "Beta is extremely distracting for us," Browder said. "We're playing. We want to see what other people are doing. We need to fix bugs right now. The minute beta goes out, we lose a lot of efficiency." So as usual, expect StarCraft II when it's ready. Whenever that may be.
Uncharted Charting Map to the Silver Screen

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Columbia Pictures plans to adapt the popular Playstation 3 title, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, into a feature film. Not all that suprising seeing how Hollywood hasn't come up with anything original in what seems like eons, instead falling back on already pre-established franchises or as of late--comic books.
Uncharted (if that's what it will still be called) is being written by Kyle Ward, who has penned a Kane & Lynch film adaptation as well as the upcoming Hitman sequel. The film will be produced by Ari Arad, Charles Roven, and Alex Gartner. Avi Arad is a familiar name, as he's usually attached to produced Marvel film projects.
Brutal Legend Box Art

I know we've voiced our opinion about Brutal Legend around here plenty already--demanding every gamer get out and pick it up on release day or face the wrath of their family being murdered (seriously...). And if that wasn't convincing enough, then maybe a simple glance at the game's kickass box art will do the trick. Sporting a rad guitar (complete with flame decals), and a huge axe, Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black) is ready to blow apart some faces come "Rocktober" 13th. It's also very cool that Tim Schafer gets the superstar treatment he deserves with a little "A Tim Schafer Game" above the game's title. There aren't many game creators with that kind of pull, and seeing Schafer's name among a list with such greats as Hideo Kojima is awesome, and deserving.
