This falls squarely into the rumor category but all evidence points to it being true: The new Nintendo DSi is going to have it's own dedicated Virtual Console that will allow users to go online and download original Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games. This makes a lot of sense when you consider that there aren't currently any Game Boy or GB Advance games available on the Wii Virtual Console, or that the DSi supports SD cards cabable of storing quite a bit of data.
Regardless of what other features the new DSi has, I think this will be a major selling point for many DS owners who have been reluctant to consider upgrading. I know that the only thing I ever use my Wii for is playing older games that are now difficult to find, so this sounds like another great way to experience some gaming nostalgia goodness.
The DSi will be available in the US on April 5th, so I guess we'll find out for sure if this is true soon enough.
On a related note, does anyone else think it's funny that game developers are always bitching about Gamestop and other retailers making a killing by selling used games, and then selling us those very same old games only in a slightly different format? Just sayin'...
