Two guys. One game. Two opinions.

Hello folks,

Dante here for Crave Online, and welcome back to Point to Point. Like last time when we talked about a certain clawed mutant, we’re going to go back and forth about a new game. This one is called [Prototype] and it just came out. Is it worth buying? Find out when we go Point to Point!

Dante:

First off I don’t exactly hate this game, it’s actually kinda fun to play. That’s the problem however, it’s only kinda fun and I don’t know if I can invest time in a Game that doesn’t really grab me like other games do. I like the feel of the game; I like how the character gets around with all that parkour stuff. The game looks really good, but little stuff bugs me. Especially the fact that your guy automatically shoves anyone he comes close to, who thought that was a good idea? You’re supposed to be sneaky, not a jerk.

Jeremy:

I really didn't have a problem with the shoving... In fact, I aim for cars and pedestrians when landing from high places, and sometimes run with my shield out, knocking people ass-over-teakettle just for the hell of it. I found myself fully willing to embrace my inner sociopath in Prototype. Sneaking was easy enough: I managed to creep into every military base in town and eat just about everyone that made the mistake of turning their back on me. It's the rooftop movement that provided my first controller-snapping moment. For instance, it must have taken me an hour (at least) to get the hang of the body glide move. You have to jump, hit the dash button, hold that down, press down the jump button again, than let go of it whilst still holding dash: WTF?! I'm trying to play the bad-dude version of Crackdown, not throw a goddamn Shoryuken.

Dante:

You have a point, the controls are a bit of a chore, it’s as if you have too many damn options. What I appreciate about the controls is that it slows down the action while you’re putzing around with the buttons, if not for that I would have thrown my controller out the window. I wonder what parent would let them play a game with more f-bombs than a Richard Pryor show, I understand they make games for a mature audience but even I’m tired of hearing the f word just ten minutes into the game, I mean who f##kin’ talks like that any f##kin’ way? I also had a problem that the game kind of forces you to do things while having the look of an open world game. There’s the one sequence when you have to rescue the girl with the APC and once you get in it, you can’t get out until the mission is done, what gives?
