Ubisoft has just announced a brand new Prince of Persia title that will continue the Sands of Time Trilogy's story. You know, the story that wrapped with the third game in the trilogy, 2005's Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. The game, called The Forgotten Sands, with contain "many of the fan-favorite elements" and "new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand."

It should be obvious to everyone that this new game's development was kick started because of the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie. That's clearly the only logical explanation for Ubisoft revisiting this version of the Prince, as there previous effort, simply title Prince of Persia, was quite good, with plenty of room for story growth and expansion.

But if you are interested in the new Prince of Persia : The Forgotten Sands then be sure to check out the Video Game Awards on Spike TV (shudder) December 12, 2009 at 8 pm EST for the game's premiere trailer. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is scheduled to release in May 2010 on "consoles and handhelds." Oh, would you look at that, same month as the PoP film...
