Beatlesmania has once again descended on the world and we couldn't be happier. We absolutely love The Beatles: Rock Band. However, as we mentioned in our review, The Beatles: Rock Band only features a small sliver of the overall Beatles' catalogue of fantastic music. Now Harmonix already has full albums planned for downloable content in the coming months but they can do one better by continuously giving us a few Beatles tracks a week to make us happy, much like they do with weekly Rock Band updates. So we've compiled five tracks we would love to see as DLC as soon as possible.
**Note -- This list would include classics such as "A Day in the Life," "Lovely Rita," "Michelle," "Girl," and "In My Life" if they weren't already scheduled for release through the full album downloads of Abbey Road, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Rubber Soul planned for later this year.
"Help!" off Help!
This one seems like a no-brainer, and in all honesty probably should have been included in The Beatles: Rock Band right from the start. We even made a mention of being disappointed when finding out this wasn't on the playlist in our review of the game. But all can be forgiven by Harmonix, fixing past wrongs and offering the song as DLC in the future. The biggest draw of "Help!" is definitely the song's harmonizing quality that would be a blast to play. And while the song might not be a technical masterpiece, "Help!" has a very catchy bass line for those that love to be the Paul of your Fab Four.
"For You Blue" off Let It Be
This one is on here for pure fun factor. The Beatles doing a twangy, country song is just too good to pass up and would also be a unique addition to The Beatles: Rock Band setlist. The guitar is finger pluckin' good and even Ringo gets a little crazy on this tune. It would even be a blast if Harmonix included John Lennon's introduction to the song when it was remixed by Phil Spector, "The Queen says no to pot-smoking FBI members."
"One After 909" off Let It Be
Another track off Let It Be, "One After 909" has some really great sections for every instrument involved. The guitar is able to go wild, with the whole song feeling like a solo, and the vocals get a work out with both Lennon and McCartney working in tune together to make "One After 909" one of the best songs off Let It Be, and a must-have for The Beatles: Rock Band.
"Love Me Do" off Please Please Me
"Love Me Do" would be a great addition to The Beatles: Rock Band because of it's very catchy drum line. When listening to it you can't help but tap your foot or slap your knee. It's also one of those drum lines that you wouldn't be able to do without a smile. "Love Me Do" is also a great song for harmonizing, with almost the entire song being sung duet style.
"Yesterday" off Help!
While a lot of the time slower songs don't really fit the atmosphere you're trying to create when you bring out Rock Band at a party, "Yesterday" would be the exception. If you want to win over a girl at your party, load up "Yesterday" and woo her till she's in tears and ready to make some mistakes. At least that's how it would work if in the real world it was possible to win the girl by being good at a video game. But even if that's not a possibility, at least you'll have fun singing this song with the spotlight on you for two minutes.
That's all we got for now. But let it be known if we had our way Harmonix would upload the entire Beatles' catalogue into The Beatles: Rock Band tomorrow, making it completely unnecessary to play any other video game ever again. Period.
And just fyi, today sees the release of "All You Need Is Love" as DLC, exclusively on the Xbox 360, with all proceeds going to Doctors Without Boarders.
