While some got to give the singleplayer portion of Uncharted 2 a test drive on the showfloor of E3, other folks, not fortunate enough to make the expo in LA, have had the opportunity to give the game's multiplayer component a run for its money since June 3rd, as long as they bought their way into it by picking up a copy of InFamous. And having put extensive playtime into the multiplayer beta of Uncharted 2, we've come away with our mouths frothing, our fingers twitching, and frantically searching for any stray moment we can spend with this sweet sweet drug.
One of the first things you'll notice about Naughty Dog's work on the multiplayer component of Uncharted 2, whether playing the beta or the eventual full retail copy, is that they've spared no expense on the experience. The options available to players are quite robust. This isn't your simple multiplayer tack-on job that most games with a focus on singleplayer offer. Like most games with a heavy focus on online multiplayer, Uncharted 2 lets you have have your own profile where you can select different character models to play as, mix and match weapon boosters (known as "perks" in Call of Duty lingo), and progress through a leveling system.

Since this is merely the beta for Uncharted 2, the boosters available aren't all that intense. All players are allowed to choose two seperate boosters for their profile. One to fill slot 1 and one for slot 2. Off the bat, in booster slot 1, we were able to increase our blindfire accuracy with either the pistol or our long range weapon, or increase our accuracy when aiming with either type of weapon. Our slot 2 boosters available allowed us to either carry more ammo, get more ammo from each pickup, or hold more bullets in each clip. And while these boosters available gave us a good feel for the types of modifications you can make to your arsenal to cater to your play-style, the lack of a reward system in this beta for leveling up didn't really allow us to differentiate ourselves from the rest of the gaming community playing with us.
