Visceral Games, the makers of Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno, are working on a new action oriented Command & Conquer title, reports Gamasutra.
The game, which is said to be “pretty far out” by Visceral Games General Manager Nick Earl, is an attempt by EA to expand their branding and market in the action genre. Nick Earl is the head of action and strategy at EA and is spear-heading the effort to expand.
“Regardless of which particular geography, everyone feels like they’re part of one group. Think about the DICE brand as becoming a strong FPS brand with games like Battlefield, Bad Company 2, and with BioWare being a strong brand for RPGs – we’re trying to do that inside the action space, where EA has not had a strong position for some time,” said Earl.
"The effort and energy at the moment is around building EA share in the action category... to achieve our mission of becoming number one inside of the action space," Earl concluded.
The action-oriented Command & Conquer title has not been formally announced yet, but this isn’t the first time EA has attempted to make a C&C title that isn’t strategy based. The last was a shooter called Tiberium which was canned due to not meeting EA’s quality standards.
