Holy mother of god, Duke Nukem Forever is finally coming out after 14 years in development. The team behind Borderlands, Gearbox, has finished development on the infinitely delayed game and plans to release it sometime in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
PAX Prime kicked off today in Seattle and that's where Gearbox and 2K Games made the shocking, yet predicted announcement. They even have the game available to demo at the show.
While it's easy to be skeptical about a "sometime in 2011" release date with a title such as Duke Nukem Forever, the good news is that Duke Nukem Forever is complete. The only work still required is polishing. Gearbox President Randy Pitchford added, "We're in the polishing phase now. This is a game where we can not make a promise we can not fulfill. We need to get past the shock and awe, and then we can go to all the retailers and first parties and work out a launch plan."
There you have it, Hell has frozen over, pigs are flying, and I believe it's starting to rain cats and dogs. Fingers crossed everyone, let's pray the Duke Nukem Forever drama saga is coming to a conclusion in the near future.
