Next Wii Zelda Will Be Different

And not in a graphical sense

In a recent interview with the enemy some details dropped about the next Zelda Wii adventure. Namely, that the structure and combat will be a bit different this time around. And to that, we say finally!

"We're taking advantage of MotionPlus. It's become very natural – the movement of your arms is precisely reflected in the gameplay. Thanks to the technological advancements, we hope the gameplay can be more accessible to people," says Eiji Aonuma, Legend of Zelda's producer, confirming 1:1 sword combat.

Aonuma also went on to talk about how every previous Zelda game fit in a single mold. You would start out in in a hub world, or a "field" as he calls it, enter a dungeon, beat said dungeon, then return to the field to move on to the next caverness looking area. It's a method that has been a Zelda staple since the original game on NES back in 1986. But everything changes in time.

"We're making efforts regarding the total flow of the Zelda game," said Aonuma, "So far, the basic flow of the Zelda games is you're exploring a field, you go to a dungeon, you conquer it and return to the field. We're looking at altering that traditional flow. That's all I can share, and I can't say more until E3 next year."

That last bit is the only downer to this news clip. We have to wait another year for any more info about the game. But this stuff isn't a bad start. Between this and the Zelda teaser image released at E3, fans should be buzzing well into next year's E3 when concrete details emerge from Nintendo's tight-lipped mouths.
