I'm not really sure if Harmonix sticking with band spotlight titles is the best next move for the company after already delivering a game based solely around the definitive rock group, The Beatles, but it seems their next effort will be yet another band specific title, this time for The Who.
During and interview with The Republic, Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who, was asked if the band would like to do a spotlight Rock Band title with Daltrey quick to respond;
"The game, yeah, yeah, they're going to be doing a Who one next year," he said. "There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful."
"In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can't stop us singing and making music," he added.
So how does everyone else feel about The Who getting their own Rock Band title? Personally, I like The Who, they're great, but I don't really have any interest in playing a game solely based around their music. A few tracks here and there like what we have through purchaseable tracks in Rock Band 2 is plenty.
But as of right now, Daltrey's comment is still at rumor status, so we'll have to wait and see if The Who: Rock Band is really in the works and planning to release next year. As a side note, Brian May of Queen fame has also publically said there is a Queen specfic Rock Band title in the planning stages.
