Super Street Fighter IV Announced

First comes Super, then super-turbo, then super-turbo-hyper....

If you're a fan of the Street Fighter series then it should come as no suprise that Capcom is working on another version of Street Fighter IV before moving onto a brand new sequel. Officially announced by Capcom is Super Street Fighter IV that will be the same Street Fighter IV you've been playing but will include eight new characters and a few gameplay tweaks based around community input.

Chief among the new cast members is T. Hawk, whose first appearance was back in the Super Steet Fighter II days. Also introduced is Juri, new fish amongst the Street Fighter crowd, and Dee-Jay, revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu, who was also a cast member of Super Street Fighter II alongside T. Hawk. The rest of the cast members joining Super Street Fighter IV are a secret as of right now.

Super Street Fighter IV will also not be a downloadable expansion, but a purchasable disc at discount price.

Now while a few added characters and a few tweaks seems like a bit of a rip-off, as that kind of content could easily be added as downloadable content, Street Fighter IV's producer Yoshinori Ono says the changes are so large that they simply couldn't be tacked on, making a disc release a necessity (time will tell if that's actually true or not). But those that already own Street Fighter IV and still go out and pick up Super Street Fighter IV you will get an undisclosed treat says Ono.

Look for Super Street Fighter IV spring of 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360.
