If you're a fan of video games odds are you know of Gabe & Tycho, the "protagonists" of the wildly popular web comic, Penny Arcade. If you find yourself saying, "what the hell's a Penny Arcade?," then you need to check yourself out of here! Go! Get!
Not only has Penny Arcade been pumping out hilarious comics every other day since 1998, but co-creators Jerry Holkins (writer) and Mike Krahulik (artist) have also become quite popular for video game companies to approach when looking for a lead-in comic to their video games, comics that turn out to have a dash of drama and a whole lot of humor. In fact, these projects, labeled under the "Penny Arcade Presents" monikor, have covered a number of anticipated games such as Fallout 3, Far Cry, Painkiller, the Splinter Cell series, and even World of Warcraft.
That's why it's a big deal that today Bioware announced they have contracted out Penny Arcade to craft a lead-in web series to the company's upcoming fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: Origins.
The comic will tell the story of a dangerous encounter between a party of mage-hunting Templar knights, the "Witch of the Wilds" Flemeth, and her deadly, magic-wielding daughter Morrigan. The comic will "give readers a dark introduction to the brutal world of Dragon Age: Origins."
