There were quite a few big announcements that came out of BlizzCon '09, but one of the biggest was the reveal of the fourth character class in the highly anticipated Diablo III. That class: the monk.
The new class is apparently inspired by pen and paper role-playing games where the developers behind Diablo III liked the idea of a fast, but fragile character in the game. Most of the monk's attacks are a string of combos and holy magic, favoring speed of toughness.
Blizzard says that the monk will be a harder character to master as his moves work better together than seperate and it takes a mastery of stringing commands together to effectively utilize the character.
