With every passing day the video game industry is starting to cut out the middle man, i.e. the she-bitch Gamestop, and offering more and more of their games via marketplace services for digital downloading. The latest news in this regard comes straight from E3 and Microsoft. It seems Microsoft's press conference was so jammed packed they couldn't even fit this announcement into the show, making an announcement shortly thereafter and engadget got the scoop, as well as some screens.
Starting in August the Xbox Marketplace will begin offering full game purchases on demand. Expect 30 titles to be available from launch with new games added weekly. And while all the games available at the start will only be for purchasing, Microsoft did have something to say about a rental service, "sounds great for the future." So let's keep our fingers crossed on that.
