Activision makes some of the best games out on the market and is considered an industry juggernaut. This year the company along with a host of others is bringing their best games to E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) and we have the inside scoop on what you will see if you can manage to attend the event.
Blur
We first told you about Blur a few weeks ago and the game is turning out to be real nice. The game is a blend of wheel-to-wheel racing and arcade action where players can blast each other with specials and pick up various power ups while racing. The game also features real world locations to race in as well as over 60 licensed cars. The game has massive online appeal featuring 20 man races over the internet, and a way to custom design races for your friends.
DJ Hero
You guessed it, Guitar Hero’s cousin DJ Hero has been born. The game comes with a special controller that will help gamers immerse themselves in the role of DJ. With lots of fresh new material, and a DJ device that holds up to industry standards, this game will be a sight to see at this year’s E3.
Guitar Hero 5
Let’s face it, what’s set’s music games apart from one another are the playlists. Guitar Hero 5 boasts the strongest, most varied set list to-date. Featuring Bands like Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, plus more than 25 artists from a variety of music genres that will be making their music video game debut.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2
The first game was a huge success, and the second game looks to build on that. Featuring even moiré characters than the first game as well as new and improved graphics Ultimate Alliance 2 looks great. This game should go down as a 2009 blockbuster. The game will also improve on the team work aspect of the game, a welcome addition.
Modern Warfare 2
One of the more interesting franchises on the market, the latest installment of Call of Duty comes back to present day with their storytelling. Call of Duty is one of the most celebrated FPS series out there and shares a stage with a ton of cool competition. What sets this series apart are it’s incredible graphics, realism and evolving story line. With great all around gameplay and an engrossing story, this might be the biggest game of 2009.
Prototype
What we suspect will be a sleeper hit among hard core gamers this year, Prototype offers open world gaming to the masses in a version of New York City as your playground. The main character is a shape shifter and the game features a Parkour style of navigating the games environment. The game has a lot of promise and shouldn’t be missed.
Tony Hawk: Ride
Look out Nintendo, Activision has a new accessory that blows the Wii Remote away. Tony Hawk: Ride has the gameplay and graphics that you’ve come to know and love from the franchise. Now they have raised the bar with the inclusion of the first video gamers deck. A life size skateboard controller that has motion sensing technology. This will change the way players look at skateboarding games.
Singularity
Here’s what Activision has to say about Singularity: Singularity pits shooter and sci-fi fans against a devastating fracture in time. As players attempt to unravel a conspiracy, they must fight their way through ever-shifting epic sci-fi environments, occupied by Russian soldiers and time-ravaged creatures, while sudden time waves hurl them back and forth between 1950 and the present day. Use time as a weapon as you attempt to unravel the mystery and prevent a catastrophic event that threatens all humanity.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
The first game was good, and this game should be no different. There will be additional characters to choose from and the fighting should be pretty intense. This version of the game also offers complete online play and lets you choose what side of the fighting you want to be on. The days of sucky movie tie-in games are officially over thanks to Activision.
Wolfenstien
Here’s the official line from Activision: Wolfenstein™ brings the Nazi’s dark obsession with the occult to life, by intertwining fast-paced, intense story-driven combat with a diverse sci-fi experience. As BJ Blazkowicz, a highly decorated member of the Office of Secret Actions (OSA), you are sent on a special mission into the heart of the Third Reich to investigate evidence that the SS hierarchy may possess a new and mysterious power. Wolfenstein is scheduled to be on store shelves on August 4, 2009.
Well that’s the list from the Activision front. Hang in there and we’ll have full coverage of E3 coming your way!
